CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tim Sinclair, a business development and finance professional with over two decades of experience, was recently hired by local concrete company Knight’s Companies as its new Director of Business Development.

The role is entirely new for Knight’s, and being familiar with Sinclair’s background, Knight’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jim Grant contacted Sinclair to inform him about the new role.

“Interestingly, Knight’s Companies was a prospective client I targeted during my time at WebsterRogers, which is how my relationship with Jim Grant first began many years ago,” Sinclair said.

Sinclair brings extensive experience in strategic business development, operational consulting, economic development, and growth strategies across a wide range of industries.

Having moved frequently throughout his childhood — including a period living in London — he ultimately graduated from high school in Lexington, South Carolina, before attending the University of South Carolina. He earned his degree from the USC Honors College in 2001 with majors in Marketing and Finance.

Upon graduating, he began a 15-year career with the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP), spending his first nine years in Columbia before relocating to Charleston, where he continued serving the organization for an additional six years.

In 2016, he started work at the accounting and consulting firm WebsterRogers LLP, where he has remained for the last 10 years, moving to Pawley’s Island in 2022.

Sinclair is well-versed in executive roles, as he previously worked as a director, leading growth initiatives at WebsterRogers, and a regional vice president at SCMEP. He also worked as a director of governmental affairs for a time at SCMEP.

“Building relationships, understanding how businesses operate and make money, and helping organizations identify strategic opportunities for sustainable growth and expansion have always driven me professionally,” he said.  Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of organizations, helping them evaluate growth opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and position themselves for long-term success.  I’m excited to do that here at Knight’s Companies,” he said.

After speaking with numerous happy employees, Sinclair said he believes Knight fosters a positive work environment and supports professional growth, cementing his transition into his new role.

President and CEO Pete Knight believes adding Sinclair is an obvious next step in the company’s growth.

“I think Tim’s going to be a great addition to our team. He’s coming on board to identify opportunities for Knight’s to grow in a variety of markets, existing and future, so we are so thrilled to have him join us,” Knight said.
