CHARLESTON, S.C. – Robbie Walsh, an accountant with over 10 years of experience, was recently hired as the new Controller in the Accounting Department at Knight’s Companies.
As Controller, Walsh will oversee day-to-day operations in the Accounting Department. He will also work with financial reporting and financial statement preparation.
Walsh is originally from New Jersey. He attended the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He went on to earn his Master of Science in Accounting from American University.
He remained in D.C. for 12 years working for a public accounting firm known as Ryan and Wetmore. Having a wife who’s a Charleston local and looking for a change, the pair ultimately moved to the Charleston area in Jan. 2026.
“I was looking to make the transition from the public side into a company operating in a continuously growing industry.”
In his new role as Controller, Walsh will also be performing regular financial analysis of the numerous Redi-Mix concrete plants, Precast and Steel services that comprise Knight’s Companies.
For any aspiring accountants, Walsh recommends improving your leadership and communication skills. Part of that applies to himself as well, as he will be spending his first few months at Knight’s learning the ins and outs of the concrete industry.
“I’m really looking forward to visiting all the plants and looking at our operations from an accounting perspective asking, ‘how can I make them even more efficient?’” he added.
