CHARLESTON, S.C. – Knight’s Companies recently hired Butch Clayton as its new Senior Project Manager to oversee the development and construction of new plants, building maintenance and to streamline its overall construction process.

Originally from Givhans, South Carolina, Clayton attended Summerville High School before continuing his education at Trident Technical College and later transferring to The Citadel, where he graduated with a degree in Construction Management and Contract Law.

Prior to Knight’s, Clayton most recently served as Vice President of Construction and at Carolina Contracting Solutions, LLC. Prior to that role, he developed and managed Department of Defense military construction projects both domestic and international.

“One of my goals here is to organize the construction process so that it is simplified and easier to manage. I’m also looking forward to helping improve quality standards for our new facilities and working closely with my new team,” he said.

President and CEO Pete Knight believes Clayton’s hiring will provide a new perspective on future construction projects.

“Butch brings a significant amount of experience to our construction team here at Knight’s and I’m thrilled for him to join us. We need that sort of perspective, and I think he will be instrumental for future initiatives,” Knight said.

When he’s not managing plant maintenance and construction projects, Clayton enjoys spending time with his wife and best friend, Heather Clayton, as well as restoring classic cars and fishing.
