Bobby was a valued and dedicated employee of Knight’s Redi-Mix for 11 years, lending his expertise to our Quality Control department. Bobby was a great asset not only to QC, but also to Knight’s Redi-Mix as a whole, and he is greatly missed.
Gaffney, SC – – Robert “Bobby” Lamar Lipscomb, Jr., 70, of 107 W. O’Neal Street, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Robert Lamar Lipscomb, Sr. and Margaret (Maggie) Thomas Lipscomb. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and UNC-Charlotte, retired from Concrete Supply in Charlotte, NC and was employed by Pete Knight of Knights Redi-Mix in Summerville who he considered not only his boss but a dear friend. He loved the game of golf and was an avid Clemson Tigers fan. He was a member of the American Concrete Institute where he received numerous awards and a member of Toast Masters. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg and a former longtime member of Southside Baptist Church. Bobby was a humble person that was always willing to help others. He shared his love for Jesus with everyone.
Surviving are a sister, Vicki Threadgill and husband, Pete of Spartanburg; a nephew, Barry Threadgill of Spartanburg; a niece, Beth Herlihy-Bone and husband, Yancey of Spartanburg; two great-nieces, Ava Elizabeth Herlihy and Sara Elizabeth Bone.
The family would like to express special thanks to Mayella Blanton and Compassus Hospice for blessing his life in so many ways. Jesus said in Matthew 25:40: The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, ‘whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
