SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Brian Neblett, a long-time employee of Knight’s Companies, was recently promoted to Operations Manager of Sovereign Steel, and plans to combine his knowledge of the concrete industry with that of his new role.

The addition of fabricated rebar to the numerous services at concrete titan Knight’s Companies was a natural choice, Neblett said.

“If we can provide rebar for our Redi-Mix and Precast customers, that would help in our overall growth and give our customers the opportunity to purchase from one supplier.”

Neblett will work closely with Customer Service Coordinator Steve Houser to ensure they set obtainable goals and make changes to improve Sovereign’s standing as a Lowcountry rebar manufacturer.

Some of his initial goals include maximizing production and efficiency, growing their customer base and ultimately spreading awareness to the community of the benefits of using Sovereign Steel.

Having worked with Knight’s since 2004 in almost every role available, Neblett is no stranger to the diverse world of concrete. His new role as Operations Manager will be a new experience for him, and he expressed his excitement about growing Sovereign Steel across the organization’s numerous markets.

Knight’s Vice President of Precast Blake Fulton applauded Neblett’s promotion to Operations Manager.

“Brian is the ideal choice. His years of experience in the concrete industry will complement this new role at Sovereign Steel perfectly and add value to Knight’s Companies overall,” Fulton said.

Sovereign Steel was purchased by Knight’s Companies in 2021 and is one of the latest additions to the “companies” under Knight’s, which also include Redi-Mix, Precast, septic, pumping, trucking and the newly acquired Murray Mines.

His team is well on its way to building the awareness they seek, as Sovereign Steel is already involved in numerous local initiatives. Some of the most recent projects using its rebar include Roper Healthcare, Summerville Fabricators, Boeing, Robert E. Howard Elementary and Google.

“You’ve got to have steel in your concrete foundations, so the combination of concrete and steel is just a natural package deal. They go hand-in-hand,” Neblett added.
